Behind the textiles are Susan Murray and Ryan Cohen. A mother and son who built a business together, bringing Susan's instinct for design and Ryan's hands-on approach to the relationships that keep it growing.
The beginning
An eye for design.
A business of her own.
Susan's story began in floral design, creating arrangements for homes through a fruit and flower store in North York. Her work later took her to Miami, where an invitation to advise on fabric, colour and design opened the door to textiles.
She learned through the work itself, attending trade shows and fairs and developing her own understanding of what fabric could become. Before there was a showroom, Susan was selling fabric from the back seat of her car.
Ryan joined her early on, helping with purchase orders, emails and the practical work of building the business. Together, they grew Susan Murray International into a textile supplier serving the event and hospitality community, including customers worldwide.

For Susan, a great event starts with getting to know the people behind it: their personalities, their style and the feeling they want to create. That understanding shapes the fabrics, colours and details she brings together.
Ryan is a familiar voice for clients, working directly with the businesses and people they serve. After more than 25 years, the story is still being shaped by those conversations, long-standing relationships and the work happening in the showroom every day.
